Striated spaces are marked by the people and objects that move through and across them, but also by the passage of time. The marks and grooves Hansen captures in the spaces she represents are non-static, irregular and unpredictable, they shift and change each time we alter our line of vision.
Kate Hansen holds Bachelor of Arts (University of Sydney) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (COFA) with first class Honours (RMIT). She has been selected as a finalist in a number of juried art prizes including, The Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship; The Fishers Ghost Art Award; The Churchie Art Award and The Paddington Art Prize.
Her paintings and works on paper have shown in a number of group shows, most recently as part of the Autumn Salon Emerging Artist show at the Islington Arts Factory, London, UK. Her first solo exhibition was in 2008 at the First Site Gallery in Melbourne. This exhibition marks Kate’s return to Sydney.
