He was awarded Bendigo’s RAW Arts Prize in 2005 which is an award given to promising artists below the age of twenty six. Recently Kain was involved in a group exhibition in Bendigo titled ‘Light’. This show focussed on three artists’ interpretations of light as a concept. He has had multiple entries accepted in the Bendigo Works on Paper Prize and also had an entry in the 2007 James Farrell Self-portrait Prize. Kain’s work has permanent residence at the Pantechnicon Gallery in Daylesford and the Bendigo Arts Council foyer. While Kain began as a purely representational figurative artist, he now uses his work to explore metaphysical principles. Kain majored in drawing at LaTrobe University Bendigo, but he is largely a self-taught painter.
